Study Journal #20

Date: Nov. 20, 2008

Principles and Doctrines: As investigators come unto Christ and prepare to become Church members, they must understand the covenants associated with saving ordinances and be willing to make and keep these sacred obligations.

One of the defining moments in teachings is when us as missionaries invite an investigator to be baptized. As the investigator makes the transition from investigator to convert, he or she must understand the sacred nature of making covenants with the Lord, as well as be willing to take personal responsibility in accepting and keeping the covenants.

Supporting Scriptures:

Moroni 6:1-4-When we are baptized, we take upon the name of Christ as a new convert to His Church. We must be worthy of baptism and the blessing that follow.

D&C 42:78-When we are converted to this Church, we have to observe the Lord's commandments and partake in the covenants that are associated with the Gospel.

Inspirational Writings:

The main goal of a missionary is to bring the souls to Christ, and we do this by baptising them. Also, they need to know all the knowledge nessisary to be baptized, this includes the teachings of baptism and a knowledge of the many commandments, ordinances, and covenants that come with baptism. Missionaries are responsible to let the people know all that is required to know in this Gospel
